Dogs, particularly the German shepherd dog have been
an intregal part of my life ever since I can remember.
I grew up in a very small town and was told as a toddler
our German Shepherd would pull me back up on the lawn
as I tried to make my escape into the street.
When I was in my teens I was very privileged to be
able to work with a trainer from Germany, not only with
dogs but with cats and horses as well. It was an extraordinary
learning experience. I must confess, though, that I
never thought that at some point in my life it would
actually become my profession. I did, however began
to see that there was a definite need for responsible
training and so many people were totally bewildered
and frustrated by not having any control over their
pets.
In the mid 1970s I tentatively began a training class.
Soon the caliber of training I was giving became so
in demand it escalated from 1 weekly training class
to 6 group classes a week.
After running group classes for many years I became
convinced I could better help people and their dogs
by more personalized training. I bought 10 acres in
the mountains of the Antelope Valley and established
my residence and my training kennel in 1987. I now had
the facilities I needed for boarding and training in
the kennel as well as individual instruction (1-on-1)
people working under my direction with their own dogs.
Even though German Shepherds are my specialty I train
every breed of dog. I also train, condition, and handle
in the show-ring. I have put A.K.C. Obedience titles
on many dogs as well as finishing A.K.C. Breed champions.
